Hi Everyone,

We have an amazing girl joining us tonight. Her name is Carly Fleischmann. You’ll get to know her during tonight’s show. In the mean time, read a little bit about her in this exclusive commentary she provided me!

~Larry

My name is carly fleischmann. I am 14. for as long as I can remember I have had autism.art1carlytyping1

I over heard jenny m say that her son commented that he felt like dory from nemo because he didn’t remember things when he was autistic. However I have a great memory for many things. I also know many autistic kids that are exactly the same way. Parents know what I’m talking about, kids that can tell you the name of every subway line or that can memorize line for line different movies and tv shows. Doctors would like to tell you that we have a hard time processing information. Its not really true, our brains are wired differently. We take in many sounds and conversations at once.

I have learnt how to filter through some of the mess.

Hi Carly, just heard a littel bit of you on larry king. first off what you said i think is so true. I’m not autistic but did attend a school with kids and friends with autism and other issues. I think for one saying there is a cure for autism or that there needs to be a cure is not completely true. First of all managing autism is a perfect way to say it. Of course everyone would like peopel with autism to be as independant as possibel. But for those of u with autism and persons close to peopel with autism realize that there is something very unique and special in a good way about having autism. it amazes me how some doctors will say that persons with autis can’t make friens or relate to others, when me myself who has no special traing at all, but yet i rather easily made friends and a connection with several autistic peopel, maybe in a diffrent way but definetely no less valueabel to me the friendships were much better than other realationships. so in conclusion i wish you the best. autism is not something that needs fixing, but just may need a littel special attention. good luck in your future. you are beautiful and will surely meet with a lot of succes. take care, Brandon

Hello Carly, my son Dakotah is 13 and has autism. He is one of the funniest kids I know. He does have a harder time remembering things and he hears conversations all around him at the same time, How did you learn to control or calm down all the noises…. You are a very special young lady, that is by far giving so many parents and children a better understanding and truer hope for us all. Much thanks to you for your courage.. If you have any idea’s for us would love to hear them….Carie and Dakotah

Hi, Carly ! I have a son with autism that is getting ready to graduate in May. I am so very proud of him, with the things that he has endured to come to the point where he’s at right now. I feel as though God has truly blessed me by giving my son to me. He has taught me so much about patience, love, compassion, and understanding.
